How to Choose the Right Bottled Water

There are literally hundreds of bottled water products currently on the market. If you do not understand what to look for in a bottle of water, knowing which bottle to choose can become quite a daunting task. Read on to see quick list of what you should look for when choosing the right bottle of water.

Steps

   1. Calculate your estimated budget for bottled water. Some bottles can be quite expensive, but these bottles may offer a higher quality water product.

   2. Determine your specific needs for bottled water. Are you looking to use bottled water only for drinking, or for cooking as well?

   3. Select a few bottled water brands that fit into your budget and do a little independent research on these brands. There have been several studies published concerning bottled water quality.

   4. Determine what type of bottled water you would like to drink. Some bottled water companies offer a number of different drinking water products (purified, carbonated, mineral, enhanced, etc.).

   5. Analyze your reasons for choosing bottled water over tap water. Are you seeking to avoid specific contaminants? If so, try to find a brand of bottled water that pays particular attention to the removal of your targeted contaminants.

   6. Research about the specific safety standards and regulations for your particular bottled water company. You will want to choose a company that tests for contamination at least three times a week.

   7. Once you have chosen a particular brand of bottled water, be sure to find out the water source of that company. Try to choose a brand of bottled water that lists the actual location of its water source.

   8. Be Responsible: Buying imported tap water means that you are depleting aquifers from other countries, and leaving a significant carbon footprint, and a considerable negative impact on the planet, to please a whim for "foreign" waters.
